TITLE: Campus Monitor
*8 hrs per day*
Job Summary: The job of "Campus Monitor" is done for the purpose/s of maintaining a safe and orderly campus and environment; providing adequate supervision for students, and assisting with needed responses to off campus guests or interferences.
Essential Functions:

Develops positive relationships with the student body for the purpose of facilitating orderly student behavior.

Establishes positive working relationships with the staff for the purpose of supporting staff educational goals.

Supervises assigned campus areas for the purpose of appropriately controlling student movement and behavior.

Enforces assigned provisions of the Student Conduct Code and the district's drug, alcohol, and tobacco policy for students for the purpose of promoting and providing an environment which is safe and conducive to learning.

Handles or assists in stopping fights, resolving conflicts, and similar problem situations under the direction of the student management team supervisor for the purpose of promoting and providing an environment which is safe and conducive to learning.

Checks for passes throughout the campus and, as appropriate, assists and/or escorts students to class for the purpose of supporting regular student attendance.

Meet each morning with the student management staff to discuss the daily schedule, problems, recommendations, etc. for the purpose of promoting and providing an environment which is safe and conducive to learning.

Maintain awareness of current problems with gangs, vandalism and related issues and specific students which may be involved in such activities for the purpose of promoting and providing an environment which is safe and conducive to learning.

Inspects the campus, building (including restrooms), lockers, etc. for vandalism or other violations of the student code for the purpose of promoting and providing an environmenent which is safe and conducive to learning.

Escorts any and all non students (including parents) directly to administrative offices to acquire the appropriate pass for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment for staff and students while, at the same time, providing appropriate access for visitors to school facilities and programs.

Follows up on student discipline issues by assisting with appropriate disciplinary action, completing related paperwork, communicating with other student management staff as to the action taken initiating follow-up of what disciplinary action has been implemented, all for the purpose of supporting staff educational goals .

Confiscates weapons, substances or other items which may be in violation of the Student Conduct Code for the purpose of promoting and providing an environment which is safe and conducive to learning.

Maintains a daily awareness of the students who are on a behavior related contract or the purpose of promoting and providing an environment which is conducive to learning.

Attends authorized training sessions for the purpose of being current in rules and laws which may impact duties.

Assists in all emergencies and drills (e.g. fire, earthquake, etc.) for the purpose of promoting and providing an environment which is safe.
- Maitains prompt and regular attendance.

Qualifications:
Experience Required: Prior job related experience with increasing levels of responsibilities, preferably in school and/or institutional setting.
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skills to appropriately intervene in emergency or potentially critical situations, diffuse potentially volatile situations, use English in both written and verbal form, communicate effectively with persons of varied educational and cultural backgrounds, document accurately.
Knowledge of Student Conduct Code and district's drug, alcohol, and tobacco policy for students.
Abilities to stand or walk for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, maintain firm but courteous attitude toward individuals, maintain written records adjust to flexible assignments often with short notice. Significant physical abilities include talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation/field of vision.
Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Current Red Cross First Aid Card, Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal Check clearance.
Bilingual/Bicultural strongly preferred
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, Campus Monitor Calendar, 8 hrs per day, prorated based on start date, IIIC Classification
